Machine-Embroidered Tea Towel Set Finished

Sunday afternoon nap and co-napper

I crept a little closer...

Oops, woke up Teensy.

Just... can't... stay... awake...

First Two Tea Towels Done

I'm machine-embroidering a set of six tea towels, and the first two are done.  Each design takes 75 minutes for the embroidery, not counting all the thread changes -- 28 in the first, 31 in the second.

Chicken Apron

No, it's not for a chicken; it's an apron with chickens on it!

There's a layer of thin batting under each block.  The only quilting I did was to outline the block frames and the chickens.

This is a birthday gift for a friend who, with her husband, raises chickens.

And here's Teensy waiting for me in the bookcase on the upstairs hallway landing.  😸

Americana Eagle Pillow Is All Done

The Americana Eagle pillow is finished, in time to take it to the Platte County Fair with the coordinating quilt and a few other things Monday morning.  Here it is as I was quilting the pillow top, and then after I added glass metallic beads to the Prairie Points, applied the cording, put on the back, and stuffed the form into it.

Can you see the one feather that I missed when I was appliquéing them?  I fixed it after I removed it from the frame.

The pillow measures 16" x 16".  I used three layers of Mountain Mist poly batting under the top.  Definition around the eye comes from Inktense pencils in Jet Black and Bark colors.  But the eagle didn't 'come alive' until I added that one little dot of white paint in his eye.

The appliqué thread is YLI silk in the sky and on the eagle, and YLI invisible dark on the mountains.  Quilting thread is navy, cream, and brown Signature #40, 100% cotton.

Americana Eagle Pillow Top is Done

There are 44 pieces in the eagle's head and 19 in the background, making a total of 63 appliquéd pieces.  I used YLI 100% silk pale silver thread to machine-appliqué the clouds, and YLI dark invisible thread for the mountains.  The pillow top now measures 16" x 16".  Tomorrow I will quilt it.  Where in the world did I put that thick cord for the piping??

Making the Americana Eagle Pillow

I'm putting together a pillow to match the Americana Eagle quilt.

The background is together and ready to be stitched down.  The pieces for the eagle head are all prepared and ready to be glued into place.  Does that little pile of pieces look like an eagle head to you?

This came about because... I had leftover Prairie Points.  That calls for a pillow, right?

As always, I have to be careful where I step.  😉

Twirled Roses -- On My To-Do List

This is from my book, Fantastic Fabric Folds, by Rebecca Wat.  Someday, somehow, I'm going to use this idea in a quilt.  😊  Not the alternate blocks, just the Twirled Roses.

Maybe if I used this as an alternate block?
