Maxwell House Placemat, Tin, and Cup

My mother-in-law found the placemat I made for her late husband a few years ago, and gave it back to me.  The matching cup was lost when she married my brother and moved to his house (he's 22 years years older than me, just a few months older than she is).

So I ordered a new cup and a tin, too, from eBay.  The cup arrived broken today.  I've notified the seller, and ordered another one.  I plan to enter the placemat in our County and State Fairs this summer.

Stars Table Runner Flimsy

The Stars Table Runner flimsy is done.  (A flimsy is a quilt top only, with no batting or backing.)  It measures 16.5" x 50".  I designed it in EQ8.  The binding will be dark maroon.

Tomorrow, I'll get back to quilting the New York Beauty quilt that's on my frame; I won't be able to quilt this until the New York Beauty is done.

Starting the Stars Table Runner

I started putting together a table runner, possibly for my sister's birthday, while my longarm was out of commission. Here are four of the sections I've been working on (they're not sewn together yet). There are three of these large stars, and four small ones.

Oh, and Larry fixed my Avanté! I'm back in business. It sounds better than it has ... maybe since I got it. Plus, I got new ballpoint needles, and they slide in and out of the fabric like silk.

Postage-Stamp Star Quilt

Somewhere, in one of my quilting books or magazines, there is a pattern for a large Ohio Star made of squares.  I've hunted for that pattern, but it remains elusive.  It belatedly occurred to me that I could design something similar in EQ8.

Here is what I came up with:
