Tapestry Paperweights

Paperweights for my boss and coworker, Tina and LaVonne.
The tapestry is from a pillow I bought at the Salvation Army
for 50¢ each to use as forms for the decorative pillows
(quillows) I made to go with a quilt.
The piping was worn, but the tapestry itself was in good condition,
so I cut each piece of tapestry in half, made new piping,
and stuffed each paperweight with dried beans.

Refrigerator Magnets

Refrigerator magnets -- gifts for friends for Christmas, a project inspired
by a large bag of 'charms' and a big roll of magnet strips
given to me by a friend.

Clothespin Bag from Old Jeans

Hannah needed a clothespin bag --
"and they're kind of expensive, even at Wal-Mart!" she told me.
"Well, don't buy one," I said --
and that evening I took her this one,

made from a defunct pair of her father's jeans.

Tablecloth and Placemats

Close-up of the tablecloth and placemats I made.
Found the fabric for $1/yd. at Wal-Mart
and got some to make Hannah a set for her birthday.
There was enough left over to make myself a set, too.
The serger does a very nice rolled hem.

Victoria decided to set the table with the new tablecloth and placemats.

I found this set of china at the Goodwill.  Isn't it beautiful?  Looks like brand new.  It's made by Christopher Stuart, and the name is 'Tranquility'.  I got a fairly large set for $20 -- and discovered that at Replacements.com, one plate costs $36, and the sugar bowl costs $18.  Speaking of sugar bowls...  look what Victoria decided to put sugar in:
